Web 2.0 Tools in the Future

From being enrolled in the ENGL 3043 I have learned a lot about web 2.0 tools. This summer I have learned how to incorporated different web tools to becoming a teacher in the future. In the future I believe that I will continue to use pintrest, wiki page, eportfolio, and as well as blogger. From having experience with all of the web 2.0 tools that I have listed I feel as though I will become more creative and share my ideas with other teachers as well s learn from other creative teachers. The road to becoming a teacher will be interesting and challenging at times but I believe if I use the tools that I have learned through this class I will be very successful as well.

Becoming a Teacher

I'm very nerves as well as anxious to become a teacher soon. I am ready to started my career in working with children because I believe that it is my all around goal in life. I have no clue what to expected walking in to the classroom on the first day of school , switching roles as the teacher instead on the student. I am very appreciative for the student teaching program that is required to graduated with an education degree. I believe that student teaching will allow me the opportunity to get "my feet wet" in being in the classroom environment and being able to engaged with the students as well as the teachers. The student teaching program will also allow me to receive knowledge on which grade level that I would prefer to teach when graduating. I know from teachers that are mentors that teaching isn't easy it what you make of it. Not everyday is going to be a easy day but as a teacher my goal is to bounce back and be the best teacher I can be for my students, teachers and especially myself.

Dressing the Part!!!

As a education major in college, I have been taught that dressing the part as a future educator i important. Teachers are role model for children; they learn how to dress, and carry themselves from admiring adult in their life. One great characteristic that should describe a teacher is professionalism. The way a teacher dresses is very important. Dressing the part for a interview and important meetings allows people to witness how professional you are.

For Women:

For Men

Dressing to impress but still being professional can still work for future educators that are young and love fashion. Professionalism doesn't mean Conservative and boring. You can still be yourself and express yourself in the work place with still being professional.

PVAMU Future Education Majors

Its important to stay focus, set goals and be observant when attending college. Throughout college having an updated degree plan is very important. A degree plan allows you to be organized with knowing your GPA, the classes that you will need to take and grades form the classes that were completed. Going to class, studying competences, notes and purchasing the textbooks are simple things needed to be successful. Building a relationship with your advisors and teachers are important, this allows them to see that you are really dedicated and determine to complete college and receive your degree. Get involved in going to TExES PPR and content study sessions through the year for your specific concentration. Those session will help you prepare for the test to become a certified teacher. Certify teacher is a program that PVAMU education department introduced last year to allow students to practice taking the TExES. I hope this helped allow you to know the important things to be successful at PVAMU as a education major.

A Great Bulletin Board Ideas

When a child first enters into a classroom the first thing that they see is the walls. Children look around to created a prospective of how you are as a teacher, what they will learn and how they should expected to act as a student in that classroom.

Things that should be on a teachers wall in the class

  • Motivational Posters:
    • Something that encourages the students to be successful.
  • Classroom Rules:
    • Shows the students the way they are expected to act, or consequence will occur.
  • Reviews:
    • Reviews can be colors, numbers, the alphabets, shapes (What I would use for my younger elementary children.)
  • Word Wall:
    • Words that students should already know as well as words that will be taught and used throughout the year.
  • Calender:
    • The days of the week and mark important days that projects or assignments are due.
  • Birthday wall:
    • Celebrated children birthday, this allows children to feel special and have a great day at school.
  • Lessons of the Week;
    • Examples as well as things the children will learn during the week.
  • Students Work:
    • Displaying the students excellent work on the board allows visitors, parents, other teachers and classmates review and admire students assignments. This also encourages students to continue to do great to keep their assignments posted for visual display.

I recently completed my first bulletin board in my ECED 3013 course. My group and I really thought outside of the box with creating our board to consign with the lesson that we taught as well. Here is a picture of our finished product.

Colorful Vision

Since elementary I remember walking into my classrooms every year and having the class burst at me with with color and fun. The environment was very warm and exciting and it keep my attention as well as my classmates. As I continue to mature in age as well as grade I have witness fun and exciting classrooms turn into a little color and just inspirational poster in middle and high school, and now in college dull and plan rooms with no color.

As a future educator I plan on teaching elementary and one thing that I am looking forward to is creating a fun and exciting classroom for my students to enjoy. Learning can be fun, adding posters with colors and pictures to interact with a math lesson or art can be very beneficial for students. Color is great because it can cause great moods of calm, security, excitement within a student.

Now and Later

I believe that it is very important that every individual should created a list of short term and long term goals that they want to accomplish. I have learned the importance in having a list and just being organized for the things to come in the future. I believe their shouldn't be a time frame on a goal in life. You should  have drive as well as determination to obtain everything in life in order to be successful in life.

My short-term goals
  • Continue to make the Dean's List throughout college
  • Receive my teacher Certification
  • Graduate from Prairie View A&M University with Education Major
My long-term goals
  • Become a great elementary teacher
  • Open up my own daycare learning center
  • Receive my master's degree in education

I believe as I grow and become more educated my list of goals will grow rapidly and I will continue to make it my obligation and my best interest to be successful in everything that I do.
